Towards safe, sustainable and environmentally friendly livestock development

According to information from the Agriculture and Environment newspaper, Da Nang City is encouraging people to expand the scale and focus on raising livestock according to the farm model, while applying biosafety measures to control diseases and minimize negative impacts on the environment.

In Tan Phu village, Tay Ho commune, Da Nang city, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Phuoc is currently raising more than 300 pigs according to biosafety standards. His barn is built separately, completely separate from the family living area and other farms in the area. Every day, this area is sprayed with disinfectant and sterilized twice with a specialized solution; all people and vehicles entering and exiting must undergo a strict disinfection process.

The barn system designed by Mr. Phuoc is a closed model, equipped with industrial fans, air conditioners and heaters that operate synchronously to maintain fresh air and stable temperature, helping to minimize the risk of disease outbreaks.

When feeding pigs, he always uses boots and protective gear to avoid bringing pathogens into the barn. All farming equipment such as troughs, water sources and feed are strictly inspected, only using clearly certified ingredients, and absolutely not using leftover or uncooked food.

Thanks to the application of scientific and strict farming methods, Mr. Phuoc's pigs are growing healthily, stably and are not affected by African swine fever. "Despite the complicated developments of the epidemic, I still sold more than 200 commercial pigs and am currently raising 300 porkers and 30 sows to prepare for the upcoming Lunar New Year market," said Mr. Phuoc.
