On July 7, at the first conference of the new Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee, Mr. Rah Lan Chung - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee - said that the province is directing relevant agencies and localities to urgently complete procedures to soon start construction of many key projects in the new province.

Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee directed to soon start construction of key projects and works such as:

Phu Cat Airport Runway No. 2 Project, Quy Nhon - Pleiku Expressway, Hoai My Industrial Park and Phu My Industrial Park Project, Phu My Port Project, North - South Expressway Connection Project to Phu My Industrial Park and Phu My Port, CK54 New Urban Area Project, Pine Hill Cultural Tourism Area Project combined with Ecology.

In addition, Gia Lai province has recently requested drastic implementation of compensation and site clearance for the North-South high-speed railway project and key projects in the area.

It is known that among these projects there are many projects with very large investment capital, up to tens of thousands of billions of VND.

For example, the Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway project has a capital scale of nearly 44,000 billion VND. This will be the main traffic axis connecting the two economic centers of the East and West of the new Gia Lai province, as well as connecting the Central region and the Central Highlands.

The new urban area project CK54 in Pleiku area has a planned area of 240 hectares, with a total investment of tens of thousands of billions of VND.

The Phu My port project is planned to be 1,442 hectares wide, able to receive ships with a capacity of 150,000 tons, with a total estimated investment capital of 2,300 billion VND.

The North-South expressway project to Phu My industrial park and Phu My port also has a total investment capital of about VND2,100 billion.

Mr. Ho Quoc Dung - Secretary of Gia Lai Provincial Party Committee - said that in the first 6 months of the year, the economy of the whole Gia Lai province grew quite well, reaching nearly 7.5%.

Many fields have had positive changes, creating an important foundation for the next phase such as: production, investment, trade, services, culture - society, national defense - security, foreign affairs, and investment attraction.

Besides positive results, the new province also faces many big challenges in the last 6 months of the year. That is the pressure to complete the economic growth target of 8% or more while the room is limited. The coordination and implementation between the new sectors and localities after the merger needs time to be completed.

Regulations, rules, mechanisms, policies and planning are not yet synchronous and complete. Some of the existing problems and difficulties of the two localities have not been thoroughly resolved, especially in the implementation of works and projects.
