Significantly reduce congestion of freight vehicles at Moc Bai International Border Gate

The problem of traffic congestion for imported and transit vehicles at Moc Bai International Border Gate is being resolved by the authorities.

Moc Bai International Border Gate is one of the main trading points between Vietnam and the Kingdom of Cambodia. With a large volume of vehicles passing through the border gate every day, the problem of traffic congestion for imported and transit vehicles is being resolved by the authorities.

Goods at the centralized import-export goods gathering, inspection and supervision point of Tan Cang Tay Ninh Joint Stock Company, belonging to the Moc Bai Dry Port project located in Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone.

On average, there are 700 - 800 vehicles passing through each day, with peaks reaching 1,000; passengers from 5,000 - 6,000/day, sometimes exceeding 8,000. The volume of freight and passenger vehicles has increased, exceeding the original design; the technical infrastructure has been slow to expand to meet demand, causing congestion of freight vehicles for a long time, especially in the import channel.

To resolve the above situation, as soon as the import-export goods inspection site by Tan Cang Tay Ninh Joint Stock Company is completed, from September 15, 2025, the Tay Ninh Provincial Economic Zone Management Board will coordinate with functional units at Moc Bai International Border Gate to organize traffic flow for import-export and transit goods between Vietnam and Cambodia.

Accordingly, through the centralized gathering, inspection and supervision location for import and export goods of Tan Cang Tay Ninh Joint Stock Company, belonging to the Moc Bai Dry Port project located in Moc Bai Border Gate Economic Zone, all imported vehicles are classified and brought to the gathering, inspection and supervision location to complete customs procedures.

Up to now, the traffic congestion at the border gate has been basically resolved. The time for checking goods and vehicles has been shortened, creating favorable conditions for businesses and drivers, helping to reduce the time vehicles stay at the border gate, significantly resolving the traffic congestion at the Moc Bai International Border Gate area.

According to the Tay Ninh Economic Zone Management Board, in the first 9 months of 2025, Moc Bai International Border Gate had over 41,091 vehicles entering and exiting the country. The total number of vehicles entering and exiting the border gate subject to fees was 217,636, the amount collected was nearly 309 billion VND, reaching 148.01% of the estimate, of which 116,206 were transit vehicles - temporarily imported and re-exported./.
