World oil prices continue to fall
On the morning of September 6, world oil prices fell for the third consecutive session, extending the downward trend and heading towards the first week of price loss in the past three weeks.
On the Oilprice floor, Brent crude oil traded at $65.45/barrel, down $1.52/barrel (equivalent to 2.27%). WTI crude oil also fell $1.51/barrel, down to $61.97/barrel.
The main reason came from information that US crude inventories unexpectedly rose by 2.4 million barrels last week, contrary to forecasts of a decrease. At the same time, the market is waiting for the OPEC+ meeting on Sunday, where the eight member countries may discuss further easing of the 1.65 million barrel/day production cut - a move that, if it happens, would increase supply sooner than expected.
According to expert John Evans (PVM), crude oil supply in the coming time is likely no longer a concern. For the whole week, Brent oil price lost 3.6% and WTI decreased by nearly 3%.
Domestic gasoline prices continue to increase
In the domestic market, from 3:00 p.m. on September 4, the Ministry of Industry and Trade - Ministry of Finance announced the new operating period.
The price of E5RON92 gasoline increased by 80 VND/liter to 19,851 VND/liter; RON95-III gasoline increased by 76 VND/liter, reaching 20,439 VND/liter. All types of oil were also adjusted up: diesel oil 18,473 VND/liter, kerosene 18,314 VND/liter, mazut oil 15,376 VND/kg.
This adjustment does not set aside or spend the Price Stabilization Fund. According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, maintaining a reasonable price difference between E5RON92 and RON95 gasoline continues to encourage consumers to use biofuels.
In the context of fluctuating world oil prices due to the upcoming OPEC+ meeting and Russia-Ukraine tensions, the management agency affirmed that it will continue to manage domestic prices to closely reflect international developments, while ensuring harmonious benefits for people and businesses.
