Students can go to the Gemini subscription page and under the AI ​​Pro plan, there will be a "Free for Students" option. They will need to verify by filling in their full name, date of birth and email. Student information will be authenticated through the Sheerid system. Registration is open from now until December 9.

AI Pro is Google's second-highest AI subscription plan after AI Ultra. In addition to 2TB of storage, the plan uses the Gemini 2.5 Pro model, giving users access to all of the company's advanced AI tools such as Deep Research, NotebookLM, voice-to-voice ideation with Gemini Live, creating videos from text with Veo 3, and AI support in Gmail, Docs, Sheets.

Previously, a Vietnamese startup, AI Hay, also gave away Pro accounts for 300,000 VND/month to students and university lecturers in Vietnam for 12 months. Account users have additional premium features such as downloading data files, asking nearly 1,000 questions per day, and an advanced AI model with real-time data updates. In education , the platform supports solving exercises, drawing mind maps, and looking up documents.

"We believe that if we want to popularize AI to 100 million Vietnamese people, education should be the starting point," said AI Operations Director Hay.

In Decision Lab's survey on Vietnamese people's AI usage, ChatGPT is considered a "multi-purpose assistant" for translation, research and professional work, while Gemini and DeepSeek play a supporting role in learning new skills and knowledge, AI Hay becomes a "bridge between education and entertainment", often used for learning and catching up with current trends, Meta AI is preferred for daily chat.

Vietnamese people apply AI in many activities, notably for chatting, at a rate of 40%; updating job information 37%; learning new skills and knowledge 34%; and translation 33%.
