According to information from Correio da Manha (Portugal), the reason the Swedish striker once firmly refused the "Red Devils" was because he did not want to reunite with coach Ruben Amorim, who led him at Sporting Lisbon and is currently in the hot seat at MU. However, in the context of not reaching an agreement with Arsenal - the team he has prioritized for many weeks - the 27-year-old player may change his mind.

Negotiations between Arsenal and Sporting are still ongoing, but have stalled due to the Portuguese club's high asking price of £69 million ($93 million). The Gunners are reportedly unwilling to meet this figure, leading to a prolonged stalemate. Meanwhile, Gyokeres has made his displeasure clear by missing the start of the season training session with Sporting.

Correio da Manha added that Gyokeres is keen on a move to the Premier League. The 27-year-old could invite Manchester United back to the negotiating table.

Manchester United, who are currently lacking a true striker, are said to be keen to strengthen their attack. Despite having Rasmus Hojlund and having just signed Joshua Zirkzee, both of these names have yet to show consistency in the Premier League. In that context, Gyokeres, who scored 43 goals for Sporting in the 2024-2025 season, is considered the ideal option for the attack.

In addition to Arsenal and Man United, two European giants, Atletico Madrid and Juventus, are also eyeing Gyokeres. Both clubs have a place in the Champions League next season, something that Manchester United cannot offer, and is also a factor that can influence the Swedish striker's final decision.
