Bac Ninh: River water level rises, urgently evacuate people and property to safety, quickly handle incidents

BAC NINH - Faced with the dangerous situation of rising floods on Thuong and Cau rivers, from the afternoon and evening of October 1, localities along the dikes urgently evacuated people and property to safe locations; focused efforts on overcoming dike problems.

Van Ha Ward has more than 433 hectares of rice, 22 hectares of crops and 75.5 hectares of aquaculture flooded due to the rapid rise of the Cau River. Of which, about 160 hectares of winter-spring rice are at risk of being completely lost. Currently, the water continues to rise, flooding into residential areas, surrounding and isolating more than 2,100 households with more than 8,200 people in Tho Ha residential group, Yen Vien.

Families in Tho Ha residential group keep their properties high and closely monitor water levels to continue implementing response measures when the water rises.

At 8:00 p.m. on October 1, the Van Ha - Tien Son dike was partially flooded. The Van Ha Ward Civil Defense Command directed forces and residential groups to arrange personnel to be on duty 24/7, ready to respond when necessary.

At flooded areas, local authorities have placed warning signs, deployed forces to guard posts, and guided people to move in safe directions.

People of Tho Ha residential group used cars to transport rice to safe areas, proactively avoiding floods.

According to information from the Department of Agriculture and Environment, it is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, flood water levels on Cau River and Thuong River downstream will reach above alert level 3. Some residential areas outside the riverbank such as: Dien Loc Village (Tam Giang Commune); Da Hoi, Xuan Giang, Dong Dao Village (Hop Thinh Commune); Mai Trung, Mai Thuong, Mai Ha Village (Xuan Cam Commune); Nam Ngan Residential Group (Nenh Ward)... water will flood into residential areas.

To ensure the safety of people living in areas outside the riverbank and flooded riverbank, communes and wards along the dike must immediately conduct a review, notify and organize the evacuation of all households and properties outside the riverbank to safe areas. Along with propaganda measures to encourage people to proactively implement measures to respond to the flood situation, the functional forces of Hop Thinh commune also focused on overcoming the problem of the extrusion and efflorescence at the left dike of the Bridge, section K7+200 in Phu Coc village.

By 9:30 p.m. on October 1, the incident had been basically resolved. Local authorities continued to monitor and ensure the safety of the dike.
