According to the Hai Duong Irrigation Department, the water quality in the Bac Hung Hai system is currently guaranteed. The An Tho sluice in Ha Thanh commune (Tu Ky) is closed and does not take water upstream due to the salinity of the river water outside.

For localities, units that take water directly from the external river system must continue to make the most of tidal peaks to take water and store water in the main canal system to serve the irrigation phase; must regularly monitor salinity and saltwater intrusion at water intakes from external rivers to proactively take water into the fields to ensure quality.

Bac Hung Hai Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited closely monitors the salinity at Cau Xe and An Tho sluices to operate the system appropriately. Proactively take in and store water into the system when conditions permit.

Hai Duong has 2 water supply periods to serve the 2023-2024 winter-spring crop. The first period is from 0:00 on January 23 to 24:00 on January 28 (2 days shorter than planned); the second period is from 0:00 on February 18 to 24:00 on February 21.
