To effectively collect and store water, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hai Duong requested the People's Committees of districts, cities, towns, and enterprises exploiting irrigation works to continue to implement plans for collecting and storing water in accordance with the actual water source and the schedule of water discharge from hydroelectric reservoirs. Proactively take advantage of the time when the water level on the main river system is high, ensuring quality to actively collect and store water in the canal system to serve the irrigation period. Kinh Mon town speeds up the progress of collecting water for flooding in accordance with the planting plan and local planting season structure.

As of February 18, Hai Duong has cultivated nearly 30,000 hectares, reaching nearly 56% of the area.

For localities, units that take water directly from the external river system continue to make the most of tidal peaks to take water and store it in the main canal system. It is necessary to regularly monitor salinity and saltwater intrusion at the water intakes from external rivers to proactively take water into the fields to ensure quality.

Hai Duong has 2 water supply periods to serve the 2023-2024 winter-spring crop. The first period is from 0:00 on January 23 to 24:00 on January 28 (2 days shorter than planned); the second period is from 0:00 on February 18 to 24:00 on February 21.
