Korea and some countries come to Vietnam to perform tug of war

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the tug-of-war ritual and game being recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, a delegation from Korea and several other countries will come to Hanoi to perform tug-of-war with Vietnamese teams.

This is one of 30 unique cultural and artistic activities that will take place in the Thang Long - Hanoi Festival 2025 with the theme "Heritage - Connection - Era" held from November 1 to 16 in Hanoi.

Hanoi's aspiration to become a regional creative center

International tug-of-war teams will join 10 tug-of-war heritage communities from provinces and cities across the country ( Bac Ninh , Hung Yen, Lao Cai, Ninh Binh, Phu Tho and Hanoi) to perform tug-of-war on November 16 at Tran Vu Temple, Long Bien Ward, Hanoi.

Along with that, the international conference "A decade of protecting and promoting tug-of-war rituals and games" will be held on November 15.

According to the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports , the opening ceremony will be held on the evening of November 7 at Thang Long Imperial Citadel, and the closing ceremony will be held on the evening of November 16 at Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square.

At the press conference to inform about this activity on the afternoon of October 21, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Le Thi Anh Mai said that the Festival is an event aimed at honoring the value of the thousand-year-old cultural heritage of Thang Long - Hanoi, and will be an annual cultural meeting point organized with the spirit of innovation, creativity and integration.

The festival demonstrates the aspiration to build Hanoi into a creative center of Southeast Asia, a place where tradition and modernity, national quintessence and international integration intersect.

Puppetry, Hanoi's youth and eternal moments

The Thang Long - Hanoi Festival 2025 will be held in many spaces symbolizing the heritage and creativity of the capital such as Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Ngoc Son Temple, Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, Hanoi Museum, and Hoan Kiem Lake.

At the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, visitors will experience a series of activities "Heritage Convergence", displaying traditional craft products of the three capitals (Thang Long - Hue - Hoa Lu) and the Central Highlands provinces (from November 1 to November 9); introducing Hanoi's culinary culture and creative craft and design activities at Ho Van (from November 1 to November 16).

A series of activities are held here such as: Fashion show "Ao Dai on the heritage road" (November 2); Painting exhibition "Thanh tan Hanoi" (November 2 to November 16); Art program "Oh Hanoi" (November 3); Exhibition "Heritage and the future" (November 3 to November 16); Art program "Red River calls the great forest" (November 8).

At the Hanoi Museum, the public will be able to visit the thematic exhibition "Archaeological discoveries from the Vuon Chuoi relic" (November 2) and the Puppetry performance space where folk puppetry is renewed through performances and interactive experiences.

Particularly, the highlight of the international art program Eternal Moment (November 8) is the participation of Swiss composer Dominique Barthassat and creative community groups in Hanoi.

This year, the 4th Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival 2025 takes place from November 7 to 9 at the Hanoi Museum and Hoan Kiem Lake area, with many activities honoring the beauty of Ao Dai associated with the cultural and tourism values ​​of the Capital.

In addition, there is also the Hanoi Puppetry Festival (November 15); the Thang Long Capital play (November 10 at Thang Long Imperial Citadel) and the Ngoc Son program - a mysterious night at Ngoc Son Temple...
