Airlines add hundreds of thousands of tickets, 'race' for promotions on the occasion of the 2.9 holiday

Travel demand on the occasion of National Day, September 2nd, is expected to increase sharply. Airlines have proactively chartered more planes, increased thousands of flights with many attractive promotions.

Vietnam Airlines has just announced a sharp increase in the number of flights during the 6 peak days (from August 29 to September 3). Specifically, during the holiday, Vietnam Airlines will provide nearly 600,000 seats across the entire flight network, equivalent to nearly 2,900 flights, an increase of more than 100,000 seats compared to last year.

Airlines recommend passengers to use self-check-in before flights to save time.

On the domestic flight network, the airline focuses on increasing the frequency of flights between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang; between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Cam Ranh, Da Lat, Hue... The total number of domestic seats of the airline reaches nearly 418,000 seats, equivalent to more than 2,100 flights, an increase of 30% over the same period in 2024.

The international routes with the most increased flights are between Vietnam and India, China, Thailand and Australia. The total number of international seats reached nearly 177,000, equivalent to more than 760 flights, an increase of 18% compared to last year.

Vietnam Airlines representative said that currently, key domestic tourist routes recorded occupancy rates of nearly 60% and are expected to continue to increase rapidly in the coming time. Flights to India, China, Thailand, and Australia also achieved positive results with occupancy rates of 60-70%.

Increasing the number of seats available during the peak period of National Day, September 2, is a great effort by the national airline in the context of the aviation industry's shortage of aircraft due to the impact of the manufacturer's recall of engines for inspections worldwide. Vietnam Airlines has proactively leased more aircraft, increasing its transport capacity to meet the travel needs of passengers.

In addition, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, Vietnam Airlines launched a special promotion program. When purchasing tickets on August 19, September 1 and September 2, passengers will receive an e-voucher with a direct discount of VND 290,000 when purchasing a special economy class ticket and VND 198,000 when purchasing a flexible economy class ticket. Each booking code will receive 1 e-voucher via email.

E-vouchers are valid for tickets issued from August 19 to November 30, with departures from August 19 to February 28, 2026 on all domestic flights of Vietnam Airlines. The number of e-vouchers is limited and the program may end earlier than expected when all gifts are given away.

Vietnam Airlines has proactively leased more planes, increasing transportation capacity to meet passenger travel needs.

The airline recommends that passengers use self-check-in methods to save time during peak season, including: checking in via the website, mobile application or at self-check-in kiosks. Passengers can also use the electronic check-in and authentication features, biometric identification on the VNeID application to shorten the time for security procedures and boarding.

Previously, Vietjet Air also announced a promotion program: From August 18 to September 2, passengers wearing red flag shirts with yellow stars or shirts with the theme "80 years of August Revolution and National Day September 2" when flying with Vietjet will receive a 29% discount on hot meals and souvenirs on all flights.

During the 3 golden days from 12:00 on August 18 to 23:00 on August 20, Vietjet also offers 800,000 promotional Eco tickets from only 0 VND on all domestic and international routes. Promotional tickets are available for sale at website www.vietjetair.com and Vietjet Air app with flight time from September 15 to May 27, 2026.

In addition, passengers flying internationally with Vietjet on flights connecting Vietnam with Australia, India, China, Korea, Thailand, Singapore... from September 15 to December 15 will also receive an additional 20 kg of free checked baggage.
