Storm No. 10 has left serious consequences for the education sector in Nghe An. Hundreds of schools had their roofs blown off, were deeply submerged in water, and their facilities were severely damaged, causing prolonged interruptions in teaching and learning.
According to Mr. Nguyen Trong Hoan, Chief of Office of Nghe An Department of Education and Training, initial statistics show that the whole province has 45 schools flooded, 18 schools with landslides, 91 schools with roof tiles blown off, 85 schools with collapsed fences and 110 schools with collapsed items or roofs blown off garages. The estimated damage is nearly 300 billion VND.

Recorded on September 30 in Lam Thanh commune, 13 schools in the area were severely affected. Hung Loi Primary School alone is still 40-50cm deep in water, many classrooms have had their roofs blown off, ceilings collapsed, and equipment completely damaged. The traditional house and music room had their corrugated iron roofs collapsed, bricks and stones fell down, causing serious damage. The school was forced to let all students stay home to ensure safety.

Hung Loi Primary School, Lam Thanh Commune (Nghe An) has many classrooms collapsed, roofs blown off, blackboards and trees broken and scattered.
Ms. Tran Thi Oanh - Principal of Hung Loi Primary School said that in the 2025-2026 school year, there will be 236 students studying in 9 classes. After the storm, many items were severely damaged, with estimated damage of about 6 billion VND.
“Immediately after the storm, we, along with the government, the sister unit and the functional forces, urgently cleaned up the school and waited for the water to recede so that we could welcome students back soon,” said Ms. Oanh.

Storm No. 10 Bualoi flooded 45 schools in Nghe An, caused landslides in 18 schools, damaged tiled roofs in 91 schools, collapsed fences in 85 schools, and partially collapsed or damaged garage roofs in 110 schools.
Not only Lam Thanh, many schools in other localities of Nghe An also suffered from flooding and damage. According to a quick report, up to 131 schools had their corrugated iron roofs blown off, 91 schools had their tiled roofs blown off, hundreds of other items such as garages, fences, trees, etc. were swept away.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Hoan said: “The damage to Nghe An’s education sector this time is very heavy. In the immediate future, the Department has directed schools to focus on repairing and restoring teaching and learning to stabilize teaching and learning soon. All students will continue to stay home to ensure safety until the repair work is completed.”
