Due to the impact of storm Bualoi, on September 30, hundreds of schools in Nghe An province were still closed to overcome the consequences. According to the Nghe An Department of Education and Training, the whole province has 131 schools with corrugated iron roofs of classrooms and functional rooms blown off; 91 schools with tiled roofs blown off; 45 schools were flooded and 18 schools had landslides. In addition, most schools in the areas where the storm passed through had their signs and trees damaged. The initial damage to the education sector is estimated at nearly 300 billion VND. Ms. Tran Thi Oanh, Principal of Hung Loi Primary School (Lam Thanh Commune) said that the school has 9 classes with 236 students. Storm Bualoi swept through, causing the roof of the 2-story classroom to fly off; 2 classrooms collapsed, damaging all equipment and the structure of the building. By the afternoon of September 30, the water in the yard of Hung Loi Primary School had not yet receded, with some areas being 50cm deep. The school had to mobilize teachers to clean the grounds and classrooms. Ms. Oanh said that because the flood water in the school is still rising and there is a large amount of cleanup work, the school is expected to resume classes next week. Currently, schools in Nghe An province are still trying to overcome the consequences of the flood. It is expected that students will not be able to return to school this week. In the context of floodwaters continuing to rise in many localities, the Department of Education and Training has directed that, if necessary, students will be allowed to stay home from school to ensure safety and avoid unfortunate accidents. Teachers at Dang Thai Mai Secondary School clean up the schoolyard, ready to welcome students back to school on October 1. Police and Youth Union forces supported Sao Mai Kindergarten (Quy Hop commune) to clean up fallen trees in the school yard.
