On September 30, the topic of 5G and 6G mobile network infrastructure "heated up" the Vietnam Digital Infrastructure Development Forum 2025 (DigiInfra) organized by the Vietnam Internet Association.
6G network has the highest speed up to 1 Tbps, 10-100 times faster than 5G network depending on conditions, latency under 1 ms, supports high travel speed (like high-speed train), high accuracy in centimeters, 3D coverage, large density of connected IoT devices.

According to experts, the world's 6G network will be standardized in 2028, 2029 and widely deployed by 2030.
Mr. Tran Van Tung, Deputy Director of the 5G Equipment Development Center, Viettel High Tech, said that this unit has deployed research on the 6G network to move ahead of the 5G network deployment process. From this process, it is expected that by 2030, Vietnam will be able to test the 6G network.
Responding to a question from a VTC News reporter about the need to research 6G technology when 5G is being deployed at high speed, Mr. Tung said there is still great potential when the demand for data transmission and usage is increasing with the development of AI, IoT, AR/XR experiences,...
"6G can connect everywhere, from remote areas via satellite, very deep mines, in crowded areas like stadiums,... 6G network will be the next "promised land", supporting the development of Vietnamese science and technology.
Mastering 5G/6G technology helps Vietnam be proactive in all situations and apply it to many potential fields ," said Mr. Tran Van Tung.

According to experts, investment in radio network infrastructure in mobile network generations is the most expensive and accounts for the highest cost, from 2/3 to 3/4 of the total investment.
Therefore, the 6G network infrastructure will continue to be built on the foundation of 5G, similar to the previous generation, with the goal of optimizing resources, minimizing investment costs, and saving resources.
At the forum, representatives of VNPT Group also shared about the core goals when building, developing and mastering digital infrastructure, shaping and developing the National Digital Infrastructure, including building and developing 5G/6G and IoT networks, alongside VNPT Cloud, VNPT Data, VNPT AI,...

With experience in providing services to many businesses, VNPT said that the 5G network is being deployed in clusters and industrial zones with high speed and low latency. The group is preparing a roadmap for testing 6G to catch up with global trends. The 5G network also integrates satellite connections to ensure uninterrupted connections for islands, borders, and emergency response.

According to Mr. Vu Hoang Lien - Chairman of the Vietnam Internet Association - by 2025, Vietnam will have more than 80 million Internet users (data from DataReportal), data center infrastructure, cloud computing is developing rapidly. Along with that are the issues of investment resources, green standards, network safety - security, data sovereignty, research and development capacity.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Dung, Chief of Office of the National Data Association, commented: "With the leadership of the Party, with the will of the business community, experts and people, we will reach the expected destination: A Vietnam that masters digital infrastructure, masters strategic technology and masters its own data future."
The Prime Minister has approved the Digital Infrastructure Strategy to 2025 and vision to 2030, which sets the goal that by 2030, 100% of users will be able to access fiber optic cable at speeds of 1 Gb/s or higher; 5G mobile broadband network will cover 99% of the population; and 6G mobile network will be built, ensured capacity, and ready to be tested.
