Vung Ang II Thermal Power Plant operates unit 1, contributing to increasing the industrial production index in August.

According to data from the Provincial Statistics Office, in August 2025, the industrial production index in Ha Tinh increased by 9.53% compared to the previous month. Of which: the mining industry increased by 4.76%; the processing and manufacturing industry decreased by 1.59%; the electricity production and distribution industry increased by 78.66%; the water supply and waste treatment industry decreased by 0.79%.

According to industry experts, the main reason for the sharp increase in the industrial production index in August was the new electricity production from the Vung Ang II Thermal Power Plant, which will be operational by the end of July 2025. In addition, the electrical equipment manufacturing industry continues to be a bright spot as it benefits from the new electric car factory coming into operation, leading to increased demand for components and supporting equipment.

In the first 8 months of 2025, Ha Tinh's industrial production index increased by 2.92% over the same period last year.

However, compared to the same period last year, the industrial sector in August faced difficulties due to the impact of a number of reasons such as: the wood industry was affected by the slow recovery of the export chip market; the beverage industry had low growth due to heavy rains and reduced consumption demand; the processing and manufacturing industry was affected when Formosa Ha Tinh stopped blast furnace No. 1 for maintenance from mid-August, causing a decrease in steel output.

In the first 8 months of 2025, Ha Tinh's industrial production index increased by 2.92% compared to the same period last year.
