According to data from the Department of Industry and Trade, Ha Tinh 's industrial production index in August 2025 increased by about 9.53% compared to July 2025.
The main reason for the sharp increase in the industry index comes from the new commercial electricity source from Unit 1, Vung Ang II Thermal Power Plant (located in Vung Ang Economic Zone). Accordingly, in August 2025, the province's electricity production and distribution industry increased by about 78.66% compared to the previous month and increased by about 96.88% compared to the same period in 2024.

Mr. Hoang Trong Binh - Deputy General Director of Vung Ang II Thermal Power Company Limited (VAPCO) said: "From July 22, 2025 to now, Unit 1 with a capacity of 665 MW has been operating smoothly under the close supervision of foreign experts and the company's team of high-quality engineers. Under the mobilization of the National Power System Control Center, since its operation, Unit 1 of the plant has connected to the national grid about more than 0.4 billion kWh. Currently, VAPCO continues to coordinate to speed up the project progress, expected to put Unit 2 - Vung Ang II Thermal Power Plant into operation in the fourth quarter of 2025. Later, when the plant operates stably, the 2 units will contribute about 7.8 billion kWh/year, contributing to the growth of Ha Tinh's industrial index".
The electrical equipment manufacturing industry continues to be a “bright spot” as it benefits from the operation of the VinFast Ha Tinh Electric Automobile Factory, leading to increased demand for components and supporting equipment. This has created more momentum for the industrial production index to grow impressively in August.
Although in August 2025, Ha Tinh's industrial growth index was quite impressive, compared to the same period in 2024, it still decreased by 1.46%. In particular, the manufacturing and processing industry decreased by about 1.59% compared to the previous month and decreased by about 14.74% compared to the same period in 2024; the water supply and waste treatment industry decreased by about 0.79% compared to the previous month and decreased by 0.49% compared to the same period in 2024... In general, in the first 8 months of 2025, Ha Tinh's industrial production index only increased slightly (2.92%) compared to the same period in 2024.

Mr. Dang Tien Binh - Head of the Department of Industrial Management, Department of Industry and Trade commented: In general, compared to the same period in 2024, Ha Tinh industry is facing many difficulties. Specifically, the wood industry is affected by the slow recovery of the export chip market to China and Japan and the increase in raw material prices; the beverage industry has low growth due to heavy rains and reduced consumer demand. At the same time, the manufacturing industry is most severely affected when the Steel Plant of Hung Nghiep Formosa Ha Tinh Iron and Steel Company Limited had to stop blast furnace No. 1 for maintenance from mid-August 2025, causing a sharp decrease in steel output - while this is the product that accounts for the largest proportion in the industrial structure of the whole province.
It is known that in the first 8 months of 2025, Hung Nghiep Formosa Ha Tinh Iron and Steel Company Limited produced about 2,462,601 tons of semi-finished stainless steel (down about 12.19% over the same period in 2024); steel and steel billet export turnover reached about 864.77 million USD (down about 35.16% over the same period in 2024).
The main reason for the decline in export turnover is that steel and steel billet products have recently been affected by the international steel protection policy, making it difficult to find new export markets. To overcome the difficulties, in the coming time, Formosa Ha Tinh will continue to make the most of free trade agreements, strengthen the strategy of diversifying export markets, and increase market share in the domestic market to create growth momentum.

Mr. Dang Tien Binh - Head of Industrial Management Department, Department of Industry and Trade said: To increase the province's industrial index, the Department of Industry and Trade continues to review and evaluate the industrial and handicraft development policies in the past time to promptly advise on amendments and supplements to suit the province's reality in the new situation; continue to complete the draft Project on developing supporting industries in Ha Tinh province until 2030 and the following years to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration.
At the same time, all levels and sectors focus on completing the infrastructure of economic zones, industrial parks (IPs), industrial clusters (ICs), building policies to attract investment in industrial projects in the area; encouraging domestic enterprises to participate more deeply in the supply chain of FDI enterprises to reduce dependence on FDI enterprises.

Localities and related units also need to speed up the implementation of large projects that have been granted investment certificates such as: Vinhomes Vung Ang Industrial Park, VSIP Thach Ha Industrial Park, Gia Lach Industrial Park expansion, Vung Ang II Thermal Power Plant, Automobile Manufacturing Plant in Vung Ang Economic Zone (phase 2); speed up the establishment of new industrial parks such as: Western Industrial Park of Ha Tinh City (old), Bac Hong Linh Industrial Park, Ha Vang Industrial Park... These are major growth factors as well as driving forces for synchronous development of industrial sectors.
At the same time, it is necessary to speed up the expansion of Vung Ang Economic Zone, increase investment attraction in infrastructure of industrial parks; focus on supplementing capital sources to complete infrastructure of industrial parks invested by the State, create more space for large projects to invest as well as develop industry and small-scale handicrafts in the locality...
