Việt NamViệt Nam04/11/2023

No one knows exactly when Buu Son Tu was built, but it is known that the pagoda was built around the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century. This pagoda was once awarded the 5 golden words "Ngu Tu Buu Son Tu" by King Gia Long.

Buu Son Tu, also known as "Thap Pagoda", is located on the slope of Ba Nai hill, facing Phu Hai sea gate, cool all year round. Standing in the temple yard, visitors can admire the panoramic view of the coastal city of Phan Thiet. Next to the ancient Buu Son pagoda is a majestic 5-storey stupa, over 10m high, with the color of lotus petals. After many times of rain, sun, sea wind and fierce war, the pagoda was damaged many times and then temporarily repaired. In 1961, Buu Son Tu was rebuilt on the foundation of the ancient pagoda and from 2001 to 2015, the pagoda was expanded, many new constructions were built such as: making concrete roads; building a 5-storey stupa; building a monk's hall, the main hall with two bell and drum towers; building a statue of Quan The Am and building the Tam Quan gate, Loc Uyen garden, and a wall surrounding the pagoda. Due to its location on the slope of Ba Nai hill, the reconstruction of the pagoda cost a lot of effort and money from the monks and Buddhist monks. The feeling when coming to Buu Son pagoda is to see the majestic, towering stupa against the blue sky; the 50-ton monolithic statue of Quan The Am sitting on the high hill is a feat, only sincerity, meticulousness and ingenuity can successfully erect this Buddha statue. The main hall of the pagoda has an area of nearly 400 m2 , designed with two roofs, curved roof corners. Although not massive, when standing here looking in four directions, we can feel the solemnity and peace. The main hall worships Buddha Shakyamuni and the Arhats; the upper floor worships Dharma protectors and great Bodhisattvas. The left hall worships Bodhisattva Quan The Am; behind the main hall is the area to worship ancestors and ancestors; The statue of Quan The Am facing Phu Hai sea seems to protect and bless the people of the gentle, simple coastal town to prosper. The constructions of the pagoda are built on a hill area of more than 6,000m2 following the hillside with the main hall more than 27m high compared to Nguyen Thong street. However, the scenery around the pagoda still retains its wild and ancient features.

After being rebuilt, Buu Son Pagoda has attracted many tourists from all over to burn incense, worship Buddha, visit and admire the unique architectural works at the pagoda. In recent years, the pagoda has been considered an attractive destination for spiritual and cultural tourists . Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan, a tourist from Lam Dong who came to visit the pagoda, shared: "The natural scenery here is airy, beautiful and charming. Coming to Buu Son Pagoda, visitors feel the serenity, peace and forget all the worries in daily life. In addition to the ancient architectural art, the pagoda also preserves many precious artifacts and is an ancient temple whose name is recorded in the precious books of our ancestors...". Especially if visitors come to visit, visit, learn about the history, culture and architecture of the pagoda, when they miss a meal, they can have a meal with simple vegetarian dishes with the Zen master and listen to Buddhist teachings.

The ancient architecture of Buu Son Tu, together with the landscape of the PoSah Inư Cham tower and the relic of Ong Hoang's house, have all created a beautiful, harmonious architectural complex, located on the spacious Nguyen Thong street winding through Ba Nai hill.
