Cat Ba is an archipelago of 367 large and small islands belonging to Cat Hai district, Hai Phong province . Cat Ba Island is located off the coast of the Gulf of Tonkin and is only 30km from the center of Hai Phong city and about 150km from the capital Hanoi .

If you travel from Ha Long to Cat Ba, from Tuan Chau Port, you take a speedboat to Gia Luan wharf island in Cat Ba with a ticket price of about 80,000 VND/person. This bay-viewing tourist route is often quite crowded, so you should book tickets in advance.

If you depart from Hanoi, you can take a bus or drive your own vehicle to Hai Phong and Ha Long to reach Cat Ba Island. The bus fare from Hanoi to Hai Phong is about 80,000 VND - 150,000 VND/person (depending on the bus company). For the Hanoi - Ha Long route, the fare will be higher, from 100,000 VND - 200,000 VND.
