Ahead of the opening match of Group D of the 2026 AFC U17 Women's Championship qualifiers, coach Okiyama Masahiko expressed his confidence as he and the Vietnam U17 Women's Team aim to win the top spot in the group to secure a ticket to the finals.
Speaking at a press conference on the afternoon of October 12, coach Okiyama Masahiko said he was satisfied with the team's preparation process as the young players had just had a useful training trip in Germany.
“The Vietnam U17 women's team had a good opportunity to approach the world-class football of Germany to learn a lot about high-speed play. We appreciate their playing style and this training trip helps the players learn a lot of useful experiences” - the Japanese strategist expressed.
Talking about the first opponent, the Guam U17 women's team, coach Okiyama frankly admitted that he did not have much information: "The coaching staff does not have much information about the opponent, but we will analyze the opponent while playing to make appropriate adjustments. The Vietnam U17 women's team will try their best in each match."

Coach Masahiko also hopes that the audience will come to the stadium to cheer for the U17 Vietnamese women's players. He said that the whole team will try their best to show beautiful playing style and dedicate good matches to the audience.
Also present at the press conference, player Tran Thi An also said: "The Vietnam U17 women's team has made many improvements in recent times and will try their best to get the best results."
Meanwhile, Guam U17 women's coach Chyna Ramirez said this is a good opportunity for them to show off: " This qualifying round is a good opportunity for Guam to show off and build Guam's young women's football. The weather here is quite favorable so it does not affect the Guam players" - Mr. Ramirez expressed.

Evaluating the Vietnam U17 women's team, the captain of the Guam U17 women's team said that the whole team is ready to face strong opponents in the same group.
“We know the success of the Vietnamese teams through the tournaments they have participated in. Guam is ready to compete against strong opponents. Of course, a reasonable strategy is what we are considering,” said Ms. Chyna Ramirez.
The first match of the Asian U17 Women's Football Championship Qualifiers - Group D will take place at 4:00 p.m. tomorrow (October 13) between Vietnam U17 Women's and Guam U17 Women's at Binh Duong Stadium (Ho Chi Minh City).
