The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has held a draw ceremony for the 2026 AFC U17 Women's Championship qualifying round. According to the results, the Vietnam U17 women's team is in Group D with Hong Kong (China) and Guam.
The group is considered one of the easy groups, opening up a great opportunity for the head coach and his team to win tickets to the final round.
Not only falling into a favorable group, the Vietnam U17 women's team also has home field advantage when being chosen by AFC as the host country of group D. The qualifying round will take place from October 9 to 17, 2025 in Vietnam.
The tournament has a total of 29 teams participating in the qualifying round, divided into 8 groups (including 3 groups of 4 teams and 5 groups of 3 teams). The teams compete in a round robin to calculate points, selecting the 8 group winners to qualify for the final round.
The 2026 AFC U17 Women's Championship finals are scheduled to take place from April 30 to May 17, 2026, with 12 teams. In addition to the 8 qualifying teams, 4 teams have been given wildcard tickets to the finals, including North Korea, Japan, South Korea and China, the Asian representatives who have secured a place at the 2025 FIFA U17 Women's World Cup in Morocco.
Ahead of the Asian qualifiers, the Vietnam U16 women's team is preparing and will participate in the 2025 Southeast Asian U16 Women's Championship - an important tournament to review the squad and gain international competition experience.
In addition to Vietnam's group D, other groups have also been determined:
