Coach Kim Sang-sik learned the Vietnamese National Anthem through YouTube and asked the players to teach him pronunciation.

“ I started practicing singing the Vietnamese national anthem right after I took office,” coach Kim Sang-sik told the media at home when the Vietnamese team went to South Korea for training. The head coach of the Vietnamese team emphasized the importance of integration when taking on the job.

Coach Kim Sang-sik explained: "I believe that Coach Park Hang Seo's success is due to factors other than football. He receives a lot of love from the Vietnamese people and players, Coach Park respects and understands Vietnamese culture. I want to do that."

In September 2024, Coach Kim Sang-sik surprised fans when he placed his hand on his left chest and sang the Vietnamese National Anthem. The Korean coach sang the song in time, not confused by the melody and pronunciation of the lyrics.

" I often sing along when watching YouTube, I actually taught myself. First of all, I wrote the Vietnamese lyrics in Korean. I marked the notes, the pitch in my own way and sang every day so everyone around me helped me, especially the players. If you don't use tones when calling the players' names, you won't be able to understand them. By learning how to pronounce their names correctly with tones, I also learned how to pronounce the national anthem lyrics ," Kim explained.

The Korean coach said he knew the Vietnamese National Anthem by heart. Mr. Kim Sang-sik wanted to get closer to Vietnamese fans by singing the National Anthem: " Although it's not perfect, I think I can sing along with everyone before each match ."

The Vietnamese team just had their first friendly match against Ulsan Citizen in Korea. Nguyen Tien Linh and Pham Tuan Hai shined, bringing an important victory for coach Kim Sang-sik and his team. Basically, the Vietnamese team completed the professional requirements and still won to relieve the psychological pressure during the past time. Tien Linh and his teammates strived to achieve the goal of reaching the final of the tournament.

At the ASEAN Cup 2024, the Vietnamese team is in Group B with Indonesia, Philippines, Myanmar and Laos.
