On the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, singer Ho Quynh Huong shares sincerely about her beloved teacher - Colonel, People's Artist Ha Thuy.
- Teacher's music night - Colonel, People's Artist Ha Thuy What does November 9th mean to you?
For a long time, I have wished for a music night dedicated to Ms. Ha Thuy with the participation of myself and other "fellow students".
There, the audience will feel and understand clearly about the profession of a vocal teacher, the ups and downs, the difficulties, the happiness and especially her excellent demonstration ability. Ms. Thuy has helped many students to be steady on the artistic path for many years.
November is also the month of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, so the program also carries the meaning of our students' gratitude to our teachers.
Luckily, I have a dedicated team in Hanoi - including brothers, sisters and young people who have accompanied me and understood my wishes - who stood up to help me connect with Ms. Ha Thuy and her students to have a music night that I believe will be very meaningful.
- I heard you are the favorite student of People's Artist Ha Thuy?
Ms. Thuy is very fair, I don't think she considers me her number one favorite student!
The teacher loved all the students who studied hard and listened well, but sometimes I didn't study hard and didn't listen to her as much as the other students. She probably just thought I was the most stubborn student. (laugh)

But to me, Ms. Ha Thuy is the number one teacher! She is very important to my singing career, she is the one who inspired me and many generations of students.
Whenever I feel down or have difficulties in my artistic path, she is the one who always calls me to encourage and share.
- What do you and your teacher "obsessed" about each other the most?
To me, her haunting words were: "Child Smell "Hey, if you had high blood pressure, you would have died 100 times over." I was so afraid of that sentence, afraid that if she had high blood pressure, I would be extremely guilty! (laugh)
She would probably be haunted by not knowing when I went to sing and when I stopped singing. She was very concerned, and after a while she would call and ask if her student went to sing.
She didn’t want me to quit my job, she often said she regretted my voice and wanted me to continue singing. This is also an important reason why I still sing until now. She also said I was the most moody one among her students.
- In the upcoming November 9th music night, how do you plan to perform to satisfy the teacher in terms of expertise and technique without making the audience feel too showy or unpleasant?
Ms. Ha Thuy has a very civilized musical mindset, updating music trends quickly and regularly. She teaches technique but always requires her students to sing in a way that sounds like they don't use technique, that is a voice that knows how to use excellent technique.

Therefore, most of her students follow and succeed in light music. In the upcoming concert, the audience will experience a little technique but it is not heavy or stressful. The students still sing according to their strengths with suitable songs.
- Many times People's Artist Ha Thuy came to your shows but insisted on standing on the stage, even when the teacher and student had to sing a duet. Why was that?
I am very proud of my teacher. Wherever she is, I always want to invite her up on stage. However, she always refuses, just wants to sit below and observe and listen to her students.
Perhaps, she always wanted me to be better so she chose to stand below - the position that can give the students the most accurate contributions. A wonderful thing about a teacher.
- Which saying of Ms. Ha Thuy follows you until today?
Perhaps, she still regrets that I did not pursue classical music. From the first days as a student, she saw that I was very suitable, saying that if I pursued classical music, I would develop greatly.
However, as everyone saw, in the end I did not follow the advice and chose to go to the South to start a career, which made her regretful. Luckily, I had a decent career singing pop music, so she was happy for me and did not blame me anymore.
