Complete rabies vaccination in Lao Cai, Cam Duong, Coc San, Hop Thanh areas in August

Faced with the risk of rabies epidemics increasing and becoming more complicated in the summer, veterinary staff in Lao Cai and Cam Duong wards and Coc San and Hop Thanh communes are speeding up vaccination for dogs and cats in the area, striving to complete it in August.

Specifically, according to the plan assigned in 2025, the above communes and wards will inject 9,900 doses of rabies vaccine. However, due to the complicated developments of the epidemic in the area, the number of injections has been increased to 10,600 doses. After a period of drastic implementation, by the end of August 6, the functional forces had injected 8,278 doses; striving to complete the injection of 10,600 doses in August.

Previously, in these communes and wards, 6 rabies outbreaks were discovered and 7 people were bitten by rabid dogs (6 people were vaccinated against rabies in time; 1 case died in July due to not being vaccinated in time).

At outbreaks, after detection, they were isolated, sprayed with disinfectants; counted and checked the total number of dogs and cats in the area for additional vaccination; informed the entire population about rabies prevention work; detected and mobilized cases of people bitten by dogs to quickly go to medical facilities for timely vaccination to prevent and control the disease.
