Students of Ernst Thalmann School show off their talent in 'changing the clothes' of stone benches

Coming to Ernst Thalmann School these days, many parents are surprised because the faded stone benches have been "transformed" into beautiful and unusually bright ones. Some are really brilliant with lotus and water lily shapes; others are extremely romantic with seagulls and rolling waves...

That is the "work" of 30 students of the school's Creative Club. During their lunch break, Saturdays and Sundays, whenever they have free time, they meet up at school to paint and draw on the benches.

Le Ngoc Khanh Tam, a student of class 11A2 at Ernst Thalmann High School, shared: "We came up with our own ideas on what to draw, agreed on them together, and then did it. Looking at the 'new shirts' of the stone benches, they seemed simple, but it took us a lot of time. Sometimes, after we finished drawing, if we found it wasn't beautiful or didn't match the original idea, the group would redraw it."

"It's a bit tiring, but in return we can unleash our creativity and do work that suits our interests and talents. This is also an opportunity for me to practice and prepare for my dream of studying fine arts at university in the future," Tam said.

Talking to Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Le Ba Khoa - youth assistant, Ernst Thalmann School - said "changing new clothes" for the schoolyard benches is one of the activities to create a green, clean, and beautiful environment to celebrate the founding day of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union on March 26.

"Students at Ernst Thalmann School started the project of creating a green, clean, and beautiful environment in early March 2024. It is expected that in April 2024, they will continue to decorate the remaining stone benches with the theme "Homeland Sea and Islands", and at the same time decorate the walls around the school," said Mr. Khoa.

In addition, the students also actively participated in Green Sunday. Not only cleaning and general cleaning inside and outside the classroom, they also prepared the soil, planted more trees in the school yard, and added more green plants to hang on the balcony.
