Mr. Tran Dinh Trach, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Veterans Association, said: The "Repaying gratitude" movement is one of the key contents in the annual work program of the association. The Standing Committee of the Provincial Veterans Association directs all levels of the association to coordinate with local Party committees and authorities to organize activities of visiting, giving gifts, medical examination and treatment for people with meritorious services; at the same time, organize propaganda and commemoration in practical, economical, focused and key forms, associated with local political tasks.
After the two-level local government model was implemented from July 1, 2025, the Provincial Veterans Association continued to coordinate with socio-political organizations and mass organizations to carry out many activities to honor meritorious people, war invalids and sick soldiers in the area.
In July, the Provincial Red Cross Association coordinated with the Provincial Military Command to organize a program of medical examination, health consultation, medicine distribution and free gifts for 160 policy beneficiaries in Hoanh Bo ward. Doctors and nurses conducted in-depth examinations of bones and joints, digestion, respiratory, ultrasound, electrocardiogram... and provided enthusiastic treatment advice to the people. Veteran Trieu Duc Linh (71 years old), residing in Khe Len village, Hoanh Bo ward, shared: I have a history of asthma. When I came here to be examined, consulted and received free medicine, I was very moved. This activity really has a lot of practical meaning for people like us.
In addition, the Provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin has provided regular support to 5 veterans who are victims of Agent Orange, each with 6 million VND/year. The Association also presented 20 gifts, each worth 1.2 million VND, to 20 veterans affected by Agent Orange in the following localities: Hong Gai, Quang La, Quang Yen, Hiep Hoa and Phong Coc. Although the gifts are not large, they show the community's concern and sharing for the victims, contributing to encouraging them to overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.
On the occasion of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, July 27 (1947-2025), the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee together with mass organizations, Party committees and local authorities presented hundreds of gifts of gratitude to policy families and meritorious people. The Association of War Veterans in 54 communes, wards, special zones and units in the province also actively participated in candle lighting activities at martyrs' cemeteries, organized delegations to visit and give gifts to wounded and sick soldiers, relatives of martyrs, and Vietnamese Heroic Mothers. Many delegations also organized visits to martyrs' cemeteries inside and outside the province, visited old battlefields to review the tradition of steadfast struggle of previous generations.
Not only stopping at gratitude activities, the provincial Veterans Association also actively directed grassroots associations to advise local authorities on the care, renovation and upgrading of martyrs' cemeteries. At the same time, mobilized social resources to repair and build houses for Veterans Association members and policy families in difficult circumstances.
The provincial Association of War Veterans also coordinated with sectors and localities to promptly commend examples of war invalids, sick soldiers, families of martyrs, and meritorious people who overcame difficulties, rose up in life, and actively participated in patriotic emulation movements. Thereby, replicating advanced models in the "Repaying gratitude" movement, contributing to the community in taking better care of policy families.
It can be affirmed that the movement "Repaying gratitude" of the Quang Ninh Veterans Association is a humane activity, spreading the morality of "When drinking water, remember its source", contributing to easing the pain of war and fostering the tradition of patriotism in today's generations.
