Convergence of highland culture at Vo Nhai Festival at the origin

On March 13, within the framework of pre-festival activities, Vo Nhai district organized the 7th Ethnic Minority Arts Festival with the theme "Vo Nhai - Highland Flavors".

The Festival was attended by nearly 300 actors and artists from 15 troupes from communes and towns in the district with 45 performances reflecting the unique, typical features imbued with the cultural identity of the ethnic groups in the mountainous district of Vo Nhai.

According to the plan, at the Vo Nhai Festival at the origin, visitors will experience many unique activities such as: Cultural camp, rural market, campfire, bamboo dance, ethnic minority art festival... Besides, there are traditional sports , folk games such as: throwing con, blindfolded duck catching, tug of war, crossbow shooting...

One of the new features of this year’s festival is that visitors will experience Market 4.0 – cashless payment at booths in the rural market area. In addition, there are many attractive cultural and artistic activities to promote tourism and introduce the potential of Vo Nhai district.

First held in 2014, "Vo Nhai at the origin" is the largest cultural festival in the locality and is held annually. From 2023, the Festival will be held on a larger scale, contributing to opening up opportunities for socio -economic development for the Vo Nhai highlands.

Vo Nhai is the only mountainous district of Thai Nguyen province with 8 ethnic groups living together. This locality is the land of origin of mankind, the cradle of the Vietnamese revolution.
Notably, the Mai Da Nguom archaeological site (Than Sa commune) - the residence of ancient Vietnamese people. The excavation pit of the Mai Da Nguom archaeological site shows that the geological strata have 4 layers of archaeological culture. Stone relics typical of Bac Son, Hoa Binh, Son Vi culture are located on the 1st and 2nd floors; on the 3rd floor are purely Nguom's typical tools. And on the 4th cultural floor are tens of thousands of stone tools. The archaeological discoveries here have helped archaeologists determine: In Than Sa, in Vietnam, there is an old stone archaeological culture (Than Sa culture).
Due to its important scientific significance and special position in the study of the evolutionary history of primitive humans in Vietnam in particular and mainland Southeast Asia in general, the Than Sa archaeological site was ranked as a national site by the State in 1982.
