More than 4 million tourists to Hanoi in September 2025

September 2025 marked a strong growth of Hanoi tourism with 4.17 million visitors, nearly double that of the same period in 2024. Of which, international visitors are estimated at 666.7 thousand, up 46.8%, including 470 thousand visitors with accommodation. Domestic visitors reached 3.5 million, double. Total revenue from tourism is estimated at 12 trillion VND, up 46.1%.

On September 29, the Hanoi Department of Tourism announced that in the first 9 months of 2025, the capital welcomed 26.07 million visitors, an increase of 23.8% over the same period in 2024. Of which, international visitors reached 5.54 million (3.9 million staying), an increase of 26%. Domestic visitors reached 20.53 million, an increase of 23.2%. Total tourism revenue reached 98.36 trillion VND, an increase of 20.7%. The above figures show the strong attractiveness of Hanoi in the context of Vietnam's comprehensive tourism recovery.

Not only the number of visitors increased, accommodation and tourism services also recorded positive signals. In September 2025, hotel room occupancy reached an average of 68.6%, an increase of 4.3 percentage points over the same period. In the first 9 months, occupancy reached 62.6%, equal to the same period in 2024. Hanoi currently has 3,761 accommodation establishments with 71,256 rooms; of which 85 hotels and apartment complexes are ranked 1-5 stars, providing 11,965 standard rooms. In addition, Hanoi has 58 recognized service establishments serving tourists, including dining, shopping, entertainment and health care.

To maintain growth momentum, Hanoi aims to improve the effectiveness of state management, develop new products, and strongly promote the image of the capital. Management work focuses on building a safe, civilized, and friendly tourism environment; controlling service quality, preventing haggling, price gouging, and unsanitary conditions; and strengthening security, preventing social evils, epidemics, and fires. The city also focuses on coordinating information between managers, businesses, and destinations to promptly forecast and adjust policies to suit reality.

Regarding tourism products, Hanoi aims for diversity and uniqueness. The city promotes agricultural and rural tourism; community tourism associated with traditional culture; develops night tourism, adventure sports tourism, and virtual reality technology-based experiential tourism. In particular, MICE tourism is identified as a spearhead in resorts and golf courses, combined with the organization of cultural, sports, political , and international events. At the same time, Hanoi encourages the formation of entertainment complexes, hotels and hospitals, the development of the night-time economy, and green, sustainable tourism.

In promotion, Hanoi has launched the "Essence of Convergence" communication campaign to introduce new products in 2025; increase promotion on national and international television and digital platforms; and organize survey programs to connect destinations with travel agencies. Regional tourism routes are also focused on, such as: Hanoi - Tam Chuc - Trang An, Hanoi - Cat Ba - Ha Long, or community experience routes with Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Hoa Binh, Son La.

Hanoi also promotes digital transformation in the tourism industry. The city builds a smart tourism ecosystem, providing real-time online experiences, applying 3D technology, flycam, virtual reality to promote destinations. A centralized database system has been completed, connecting businesses and management agencies, supporting monitoring, market forecasting and policy making.

In parallel, human resource development is given top priority. Hanoi organizes training for the tourism community, improves professional skills and civilized behavior, and coordinates with universities to bring students into practical activities at destinations and major events.

Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Dang Huong Giang said that to ensure synchronous development, the city focuses on planning tourism infrastructure in clusters. The central area improves the quality of cultural and heritage tourism, develops night tourism, MICE, and cuisine. The West promotes eco-tourism, resorts, and agriculture; the North develops weekend resorts, shopping, and sports; the East exploits night tourism and MICE; the South focuses on craft villages and rural tourism.

With comprehensive solutions, Hanoi not only affirms its position as the leading attractive destination in Vietnam but also aims to build a high-quality, green, sustainable and internationally integrated tourism brand for the capital.
