Houthi declares attack, Hezbollah continues to fire dozens of rockets into Israel

On July 2, the Houthi and Hezbollah movements both announced that they had carried out cruise missile and rocket attacks on targets in Israel.

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea said the movement coordinated with the Islamic Resistance Forces in Iraq to carry out "a joint military operation targeting a particularly important target in Haifa with a number of cruise missiles. The operation achieved its objectives."

However, Mr. Sarea did not specify the target of the attack in the Israeli city of Haifa. The Houthi official affirmed that this force will continue to attack Israel until the war in the Gaza Strip ends.

Meanwhile, the Times of Israel news agency said that Israel did not detect any attacks occurring in the area in or near the city of Haifa or elsewhere nationwide.

The last missile warning was issued at 5 p.m. on July 2 (local time) indicating an attack by Hezbollah in Lebanon on the northern Israeli city of Kiryat Shmona.

Regarding this, the Hezbollah Islamic movement issued a statement saying that its fighters launched "dozens of Katyusha rockets" at a military camp in northern Israel in "retaliation" for an Israeli attack that killed one civilian in southern Lebanon.

The Israeli military confirmed that “approximately 15 projectiles… were launched from Lebanon and 10 were successfully intercepted” without causing any casualties. The Israeli military also struck a “Hezbollah military installation” in the border village of Yarin.

According to AFP statistics, violence between Hezbollah and Israel that occurred since early October last year has killed 493 people in Lebanon, including 95 civilians. On the Israeli side, the number is at least 15 soldiers and 11 civilians.

On June 29, Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naim Qassem announced that the force will only stop attacking Israel when the war in the Gaza Strip ends.
