At least six people were injured

On the evening of October 16, District 3 Police (HCMC) informed that the unit is continuing to coordinate with professional units to investigate and clarify the case of a man who attacked people with a knife and then committed suicide.

According to the authorities, the suspect was identified as DG (23 years old, living with his brother in Hiep Binh Phuoc Ward, Thu Duc City). The suspect works as an ice delivery man.

Earlier that morning, G. and his brother went to deliver ice in District 3. While his brother was delivering ice to customers, G. suddenly acted abnormally, took off all his clothes, took a knife from a passerby, and chased and stabbed many passersby.

Upon receiving the news, District 3 Police arrived at the scene to chase the suspect. When G. ran to 27C Ban Co Street (Ward 3, District 3), the suspect suddenly used a knife to cut his own throat and died later.

According to District 3 Police, at least 6 people were injured by G., including a security guard who is receiving special care in the hospital and is on a ventilator. The remaining victims suffered minor injuries (including an 80-year-old woman and a mentally ill person).

Previously, a series of incidents caused by people high on drugs caused a stir in public opinion. On September 1, news from the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department (PC07) of Ho Chi Minh City Police, the unit had just rescued 1 victim and guided 3 people to safety in the fire at the Imperial Place Binh Tan apartment building (633 Kinh Duong Vuong, An Lac ward).

According to the authorities, the initial cause was that the girl (born 2004) in the apartment above was suspected of being high on drugs and set fire to the sofa. When neighbors discovered the incident, they ran into the apartment to pull her out, but she refused to come out and was injured.

In March 2023, in District 12, Ho Chi Minh City, a tragic murder case also occurred in which a child suspected of being high on drugs stabbed his biological mother to death.

Initial information, people living in the alley of TTH29 heard screams coming from the house of Mrs. N. (56 years old). A girl from Mrs. N.'s house ran out to call for help. When people entered the house, they discovered V. (Mrs. N.'s biological son) holding a bloody weapon. Next to her was Mrs. N.'s body with many injuries.

V. showed unusual signs, was not sober, suspected of being high on drugs. V. used weapons to attack people who came and barricaded himself in the house.

Upon receiving the news, local police quickly arrived to block off the scene and tried to control V., but he resisted fiercely. The police then had to open fire, injuring V. to control him, and then escort him away.
