As an ambassador who has lived, worked and has special affection for Vietnam for many years, Ms. Ann Måwe said that she was particularly impressed by two things during her term in Hanoi : the young generation always looking forward and the traditional Tet atmosphere in Hanoi.

Cycling around the city to enjoy the Tet atmosphere, the flowers, the hustle and bustle of Vietnamese people before New Year's Eve... are special moments in Vietnam. I am eagerly waiting for the Year of the Dragon.

"After many years living with my family in Vietnam, I find this a wonderful country. I love the food, the nature and everything... Vietnamese people are always full of smiles," said the Swedish ambassador.

She proudly recalled the diplomatic history: Sweden was the first country in Europe to establish relations with the Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam during the war period in Vietnam (1969). In 2024, Vietnam and Sweden will celebrate 55 years of diplomatic cooperation.

Having come to Vietnam since her youth and living and working in Hanoi in recent years, Ambassador Ann Måwe said she has witnessed a Vietnam growing and changing day by day.

30 years ago, in her opinion, Vietnam was a poor country, people's lives were still full of deprivation.

And 30 years later, Vietnam has almost become a different country: more developed, more prosperous, millions of people have escaped poverty.

She affirmed: "I firmly believe that Vietnam will succeed because of the human factor. You have a generation of young people full of energy. I feel that each Vietnamese person has great inner strength, power and especially confidence and optimism about the future.

They always look forward. During my term as ambassador, I will bring information about the investment environment in Vietnam to businesses in Sweden and vice versa, information about Sweden to the Vietnamese people.

Recently, I have noticed that the Vietnamese Government has paid great attention to the environment and gender equality, two areas that need more focus to ensure sustainable development," said Ms. Ann.

In her memory, the time of Tet in Vietnam is very memorable. That is the time when the streets are bustling and full of colors, people go out to shop with the hope of a good new year.

She often puts her work aside, spends time cycling to see Hanoi, and experiences the traditional Tet holiday with her Vietnamese friends in their families.
