On June 17, according to information from Bac Ninh Provincial Police, Bac Ninh City Police issued a decision to prosecute Nguyen The Hoat (27 years old, in Cam Dong commune, Cam Giang district, Hai Duong province) for the crime of "Robbery".
According to investigation documents, at around 2:00 p.m. on June 10, Hoat drove a motorbike with a covered license plate to Ngoc Thom gold shop (in Dong Duong area, Nam Son ward, Bac Ninh city) pretending to buy gold.
When he saw the shop owner was not paying attention, the man used pepper spray directly into the shop owner's eyes, stole 5 taels of gold, then got on the motorbike and escaped.

After robbing the gold, Hoat brought it to a gold shop in Thuan Thanh district and sold it for more than 27 million VND, then drove back to his rented room in Van Duong ward, Bac Ninh city.
Upon receiving the news, Bac Ninh City Police quickly mobilized forces to investigate and arrest Hoat while he was hiding in Cam Giang district, Hai Duong province.
At the police station, Hoat confessed to using the money from selling gold to gamble online and for personal expenses.
The case is under investigation.
