Phu Ly city's cultural space is bustling with the music night "Nguyet Cam Tam Ca"

In response to the Ha Nam Cultural Tourism Week 2023, on the evening of May 20, at the city's culinary culture space, the City Center for Culture, Information and Sports coordinated with Viet Event Company Limited to organize the Music Night "Nguyet Cam Tam Ca". Thousands of people and tourists gathered in a space filled with national cultural colors to enjoy traditional singing and music performances by musicians Hoai Thanh, Mai Tran Lam and the Tam Linh Viet Orchestra.

The stage was beautifully decorated, creating a traditional architectural space close to the people's lives and associated with the birth and existence of the Van singing genre by the bronze pillars and ancient temple roofs. Before the performance, the audience filled the old Bien Hoa cinema to wait to enjoy the program's performances.

Mr. Nguyen Quy Dung, a tourist from Hanoi, excitedly shared: “My family came from Hanoi to Phu Ly to visit our relatives. This is the first time we visited the walking street and saw this event. We really enjoyed it! There were some people who had just returned from abroad. We got to listen to Chau Van singing and immerse ourselves in the atmosphere of our hometown. We had a very special feeling.”

The program presenter appeared, talking about Hat Van with short, concise words: “Hat Van is a unique folk performing art form associated with the worship of the Three Realms of the Vietnamese people. Having gone through hundreds of years of ups and downs, with its unique artistic value and lasting vitality in cultural life, in 2012, the Chau Van ritual was included in the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The Chau Van ritual is also one of the important elements contributing to making “The practice of worshipping the Three Realms of the Vietnamese people” a representative Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, recognized by UNESCO in 2016.” Artist Hoai Thanh appeared with the Tam Linh Viet orchestra, bringing the audience songs that touched people's hearts: “Quan Lon De Tam”, “Ong Hoang Muoi”, “Co Doi Thuong Ngan”…

With a simple singing style, using the technique of bouncy and soaring in adjusting the volume and words, Hoai Thanh has conveyed the soul of the people of Ha Nam into the Van songs full of identity. Mr. Le Cuong, a tourist from Hanoi commented: "I listen to Van singing a lot, but his singing style is very classy and sophisticated. Hoai Thanh is young, but his voice and the way he handles Van singing techniques are very flexible, making the songs graceful and touching the hearts of people."

Mr. Tran Vinh Thuy, representative of Viet Event Company Limited, the co-organizer of this event, shared: We were permitted by the City People's Committee to organize this event to contribute to the Ha Nam Cultural Tourism Week 2023 and the 50th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan. This is the place where the provincial Chau Van singing club organizes its activities every month. Therefore, for the city's residents, Chau Van singing has become familiar. But at this time, when the province is organizing the Cultural Tourism Week with a series of large and small events, the company had the idea of making this program, inviting artist Hoai Thanh and his colleagues to perform for the people.

This new and creative way of Viet Event has brought a new look to the atmosphere of the walking street in general and the art performance program in the cultural space in particular. The elderly, children, young men and women present in this space are all immersed in the melodious music, in the sublime and meaningful dances... Looking at this scene, we can see that bringing Hat Van to the stage, or into the street in the way the city has been doing for a long time, has brought a new life to Hat Van.

Mr. Ho Diep, Luong Khanh Thien ward, Phu Ly city expressed: “Ha Nam is one of the cradles of Cheo singing and Van singing. Although the people of the city love these art forms, they rarely have the conditions to go to the temple or palace to watch and enjoy them. We know that the environment and conditions for Van singing to exist are those places, but for it to live and promote its value in the spiritual life of the people, the staging of Van singing is also a good way for people to enjoy the traditional art of their ancestors. Today, Viet Event organized an art program of this scale, which really makes the people of the city happy.”

After the Van singing performances, singer Mai Tran Lam served the people and tourists with many Borelo, lyrical and revolutionary traditional songs. The audience stayed until the last minute of the program. Mrs. Tran Thi Yen, Tran Hung Dao ward said: "Today, at the provincial cultural center, the National Festival of Good Stage Art Excerpts was opened, but we chose to stay at the old Bien Hoa cinema to enjoy Van singing and interact with the artists. In fact, our choice was very correct, the program was simple but touched the hearts of people."
