U20 Vietnam has had its third consecutive victory in the 2025 U20 Asian qualifiers. However, coach Hua Hien Vinh and his team are still behind U20 Syria because of the lower secondary index. In the final match, U20 Vietnam will face U20 Syria directly.
The 2025 AFC U20 Championship qualifiers will feature 45 teams, divided into five groups of five and five groups of four. According to the tournament rules, the 10 group winners and five best runners-up will qualify for the finals to be held in China next year.
With the current scenario of Group A, if U20 Vietnam wants to be sure to continue, they will have to win against U20 Syria in the final match. Because then, U20 Vietnam will finish the qualifying round in first place.
In case U20 Vietnam draws with U20 Syria, the Southeast Asian representative will have 10 points, but still be second in group A. In this scenario, U20 Vietnam will seek a place to continue as the second-placed group with the best performance.
However, when comparing the achievements with other second-placed teams, U20 Vietnam will have to deduct the points earned from the last-placed team because in the 2025 U20 Asia qualifiers, there are groups of 4 and 5 teams (U20 Vietnam's group has 5 teams).
Currently, U20 Vietnam is ranked 2nd in the group of 5 best second-placed teams with 6 points and a goal difference of +8. Leading the second-placed group is U20 Iraq with 6 points and a goal difference of +17.
If U20 Vietnam draws with U20 Syria, the chance of advancing is very high. However, in case of defeat, Coach Hua Hien Vinh and his team can be completely eliminated if the results of other matches are unfavorable for U20 Vietnam.
