The miracle of 65 years of opening the Ho Chi Minh trail

In order to provide timely human and material support to the southern battlefield, on May 19, 1959, the General Military Commission (now the Central Military Commission) organized the "Special Military Task Force", later called Group 559, with the task of transporting weapons, ammunition, military uniforms, and military equipment to support the southern battlefield; bringing soldiers and civil-political-party officials to the South and North according to the requirements of the resistance war. After 16 years (1959 - 1975) of continuously opening roads, transporting, fighting to protect the strategic supply line, coordinating with the armed forces and people in 22 provinces of the three Indochinese countries, the Truong Son Troops have continuously grown in terms of organization, staffing, command and coordination level, ensuring that they are the decisive factor contributing to the victory of the campaigns leading to the complete liberation of the South and the reunification of the country.
