Mong Cai 1 Ward is one of the localities forecasted to be directly affected by storm No. 11. From early on, the implementation of response measures has been actively and proactively carried out.
Determining that propaganda and information must come first so that people can promptly grasp the storm's developments and proactively prevent it, the Ward People's Committee has directed the Service Supply Center and neighborhood leaders to regularly and continuously update the situation of storm No. 11. The content focuses on developments and warnings about post-storm circulation that can cause rain and floods; instructions on securing houses, anchoring boats; ensuring security and order; preparing materials, rescue equipment and plans to evacuate people to safe places according to the "4 on-site" motto. The form of propaganda is diversified, especially through social networks such as Zalo, Facebook... to spread quickly and widely.
The ward has also mobilized about 650 people from the military, police, cadres, civil servants, workers, youth union members and neighborhood shock troops; along with dozens of vehicles such as specialized vehicles, excavators, motorboats, canoes... ready to participate in response. Supplies, equipment, necessities, medicines... have been fully prepared according to storm scenarios, ensuring proactiveness in all situations.
Comrade Nguyen Thanh Hai, Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Mong Cai 1 Ward, said: With the characteristics of a coastal area with many operating ships, before the rapid and complicated developments of storm No. 11, the locality has given high priority to calling ships to safe shelters.
Currently, in the ward, there are 517 ships, boats and water vehicles of all kinds, including 17 fishing boats, 200 passenger and cargo ships, and about 300 other water vehicles such as rafts and iron boats operating on rivers and coastal areas. By the afternoon of October 4, most ship owners had clearly grasped information about the developments and movement of the storm and proactively brought their vehicles to anchor at 8 safe shelters in the area.
From 3 p.m. on the same day, officers and soldiers of Mui Ngoc Border Control Station and Tra Co Border Post organized mobile patrol teams at sea to propagate and mobilize fishermen to quickly go ashore to avoid the storm. It is expected that by noon on October 5, all vessels under local management as well as vehicles operating in the waters of Mong Cai, Tra Co, Vinh Thuc and the northern area of Bac Bo Gulf will have completed entering safe shelters.
Along with that, Mong Cai 1 ward is actively reviewing agricultural - forestry - fishery production areas, areas at risk of landslides, flooding, dyke systems, culverts, irrigation reservoirs... to proactively respond to each situation. The top priority is to ensure the safety of people's lives and minimize property damage.
