On October 8, the People's Committee of Lam Dong province informed that the province has just sent a document to the ministries of National Defense, Public Security, Construction, Culture, Sports and Tourism to participate in the appraisal of the project implementation dossier of Phan Thiet Airport for the civil aviation category (Phan Thiet ward, Lam Dong province).
It is expected that in October, the Provincial People's Committee will carry out procedures to submit to the Lam Dong Provincial People's Council to stop the investment policy of the Phan Thiet Airport project for the civil aviation category under the BOT form and prepare a dossier to request approval of the investment policy for the civil aviation category under the form of bidding to select investors to implement the project using land.
Accordingly, the project has an area of over 74 hectares to build facilities to meet the needs of 4E-class civil aviation aircraft, ensuring a capacity of 2 million passengers/year. The project has an airport runway, traffic control works, air and ground navigation; internal port traffic works, etc. In addition, the passenger terminal is invested and built with a total area of about 16,000-18,000m².
The total estimated investment is about 3,797 billion VND. The project's operating period is 50 years from the date the investor is decided to allocate land, decide to lease land, and decide to change the land use purpose. The expected investment implementation progress is 28 months from the date of the decision to approve the investment policy.
The Phan Thiet Airport Project for civil aviation is a key transport infrastructure investment project of strategic significance for socio -economic development and ensuring national defense and security of the province and the region. The project will create a driving force to attract investment, promote tourism, services, trade, expand air traffic connections with major domestic and international economic centers; at the same time, make an important contribution to the formation of a synchronous infrastructure system, enhancing the position and image of the locality.
