Ancestor worship ceremony of the Black Lo Lo ethnic group in Lung Cu commune in 2025

During the two days from September 12 to 13, Lung Cu Commune People's Committee organized the Ancestor Worship Ceremony of the Black Lo Lo people, a traditional ritual, a typical form of religious and spiritual practice that was included in the list of National Intangible Cultural Heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2012.

In the cultural and spiritual life of the Lo Lo ethnic group in general, and the Black Lo Lo branch in particular in the far North of the country, many traditional, unique and rich cultural features are still preserved, including the Ancestor Worship Ceremony... The ceremony is usually held at the end of the 7th lunar month every year, consisting of 3 main parts: Sacrificial Ceremony, Memorial Ceremony and Ancestor Farewell Ceremony.

These parts are also activities belonging to the life cycle rituals of the Black Lo Lo people with profound meanings.

The ancestor worship ceremony of the Black Lo Lo ethnic group educates the community to look back to their roots, be grateful to their ancestors, and educates the morality of remembering the source of water when drinking water, creating a bond between the family, clan, and village community. After the ceremony is the festival with unique dances, folk games performed to the resounding sound of bronze drums. All are combined to create a unique cultural feature of the Black Lo Lo ethnic group in the far North.

Currently, the Ancestor Worship Ceremony is maintained and performed regularly by the Black Lo Lo people according to tradition, in order to preserve and promote the value of unique cultural identity. At the same time, it creates a tourism product for visitors to experience and learn.

Preserving and promoting the cultural values ​​associated with tourism development of this ritual will continue to contribute to improving the material and spiritual life of the Black Lo Lo people in particular and the people in the northernmost part of the country in general.
