World Cultural Festival in Hanoi: Connecting - sharing - spreading love

With the spirit of “Connecting – Sharing – Spreading Love”, the first World Cultural Festival in Hanoi took place from October 10 to 12 at the World Cultural Heritage site of Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Hanoi. In addition to activities honoring cultural diversity and enhancing people-to-people exchanges, the festival also included charity activities for people affected by storms and floods.

The festival, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Hanoi People's Committee, brought together 48 participating countries with 45 national cultural spaces; 34 international culinary booths; 23 domestic and foreign art troupes; 12 units introducing books and publications; 22 countries participating in the international film screening program.

The organizers said that the festival is not only a friendly meeting of cultures around the world , but also a humanitarian journey towards communities that are heavily affected by natural disasters, demonstrating the spirit of international solidarity in solving common global challenges, including the issue of climate change, which no country can stand aside from.

World Cultural Festival in Hanoi brings together many countries.

At the festival, colorful cultural spaces were vividly recreated, from traditional Asian - European dances, international costumes and cuisine displays, to unique Vietnamese art performances with the message "The world beats together with love". In particular, the charity auction and donation program attracted strong response. All funds raised will be transferred to localities affected by floods, to support the reconstruction of houses, schools and civil works.

The opening ceremony will take place from 8:00 p.m. on October 10 at the central stage of Thang Long Imperial Citadel, gathering many famous Vietnamese artists such as Tung Duong, Hoa Minzy... and international artists, bringing emotional performances, harmoniously combining tradition and modernity. The closing ceremony will take place at 8:00 p.m. on October 12 with the participation of Truc Nhan, Hoang Thuy Linh... and many international artists, promising to bring energetic and emotional performances. The ceremonies all combine cross-art performances and 3D Mapping projections, which are the convergence of five continents in creative light and solidarity. All are moved in three-dimensional space with the message: Culture is the bridge of humanity, creativity is the common language of the world.

Performing arts activities are the highlight of the festival.

There are many highlight activities within the framework of the festival. Among them, the Fashion Show - "Heritage Footsteps" taking place on the evening of October 11th brings together nearly 100 traditional costumes from participating countries, promising to be the most diverse and magnificent international national costume performance ever in Vietnam. "Heritage Footsteps" is not only an artistic fashion show, but also a journey to honor heritage, honor identity, where each costume tells the story of culture, history and spirit of its people. Here, the audience will admire the brilliant diversity of the world through the language of colors, materials and traditional patterns.

On the “Cultural Road”, visitors can visit booths from nearly 50 countries such as China, Korea, Japan, the United States, Russia, France, Iran, Angola, Laos, the Philippines, etc. The booths introduce the characteristics of history, art, language, costumes and customs of the countries. Visitors also have the opportunity to experience wearing traditional costumes of Vietnam and other countries, immersing themselves in the atmosphere of international exchange.

The international film screening program will introduce outstanding Vietnamese and international cinema works at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel Hall, from 9am to 9pm on October 11-12. On the round stage, there will be art performances from Vietnam, Japan, Russia, Cambodia, Mongolia, Pakistan, Iran, Cuba, Romania, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Indonesia, Palestine, Venezuela, UAE, Philippines... The culinary area is where visitors can explore multinational cuisine and participate in culinary workshops to learn about typical dishes of many different cultures.
