Lien Khuong officially becomes the first international airport in the Central Highlands

Lien Khuong International Airport conveniently serves international and domestic flights, regular and irregular, and private and military aircraft.

Leaders of the Ministry of Transport presented the Decision to recognize the International Airport to the representative of Lien Khuong Airport.

On the morning of June 23, the Ministry of Transport coordinated with the People's Committee of Lam Dong province to organize a ceremony to announce Lien Khuong Airport (Lien Nghia town, Duc Trong district, Lam Dong) as an international airport. This is also the first international airport in the Central Highlands region.

Attending the announcement ceremony were Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang and leaders of central and local ministries and branches.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Transport Le Anh Tuan said: Lien Khuong International Airport has a runway 3,250 m long, 45 m wide, asphalt concrete structure... meeting the exploitation of Code D aircraft such as B757, A300 and equivalent or lower.

Accordingly, Lien Khuong International Airport conveniently serves international and domestic flights, regular and irregular, private aircraft, military aircraft and other types when licensed by competent authorities. Connecting with direct flights to many countries will facilitate the transportation of international tourists and the transportation of goods, vegetables, flowers, and agricultural products from the Central Highlands to many countries around the world at the lowest cost and fastest time.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Phuc, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, emphasized: Lien Khuong becoming an international airport will create very favorable conditions for the socio-economic development of the locality and the Central Highlands region in general. Especially for the tourism sector in the context of Da Lat becoming an attractive destination for international tourists.

According to the planning until 2030, Lien Khuong International Airport will have a scale of 4E airport, designed capacity to receive 5 million passengers/year, oriented to receive 7 million passengers/year by 2050.

Lien Khuong Airport was started construction in 1933 with the original name of Lien Khanh Airport. Lien Khuong International Airport is about 39 km from the center of Da Lat city. After many upgrades and expansions, Lien Khuong International Airport now welcomes an average of over 2 million passengers each year, connecting to many localities in the country.

In addition, Lien Khuong International Airport also receives many tourist flights from countries in the region and Korean tourists.

According to the planning until 2030, Lien Khuong International Airport will have a scale of 4E airport, an area of ​​340.8 hectares, a designed capacity of 5 million passengers/year, and by 2050, this airport will have an area of ​​486.8 hectares, welcoming 7 million passengers/year.
