A recently filed patent by Samsung has revealed the future of a foldable handheld gaming device similar to the Z Flip that has made the technology world extremely excited.
Samsung is known for making displays for popular handheld game consoles like the Nintendo Switch, but recent revelations suggest the conglomerate is planning to produce its own branded device.
According to images recently shared by 91mobiles, this Samsung gaming console may have a folding screen similar to the Z Flip phone line.
Information appearing on the website of the World Intellectual Property Organization WIPO said that Samsung has filed a patent describing a gaming console model with a clamshell folding design similar to the Galaxy Z Flip6.
With this design, the Korean manufacturer's future gaming console will allow users to easily carry the device on the go without having to carry a separate bag like current gaming consoles.
The description suggests that the top screen of the gaming console may use Samsung's Ultra Thin Glass, which is found on foldable phones. The manufacturer may also equip a protective film on top to help limit damage to the screen due to frequent folding and to enhance the image display effect on the screen.
The images depicted in the application also show integrated gaming controls, such as circular joysticks or d-pads on either side, and additional buttons integrated into the bottom of the device.
While it’s unclear whether this design will ever materialize, it does suggest that Samsung is thinking about entering the handheld gaming market, which isn’t exactly the company’s forte. However, given their experience with foldable technology, this design is likely to make it to store shelves in the future.
This invention is also expected to help Samsung create a new fever in the technology world when it is sold.
