The Vietnam - Cuba Network of Agricultural Biotechnology and Natural Health Care was officially launched in the capital city of Havana, Cuba.
This initiative was initiated by the Green Economy Institute under the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, in coordination with Labiofam Group (Cuba), bringing together more than 45 research institutes, hospitals, universities and businesses from the two countries, operating in the fields of biotechnology, medicine, agriculture and green economy.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Ms. Duong Bich Diep, Director of the Green Economy Institute, said that the network is a comprehensive connection space - from ideas to practice, from research to production and trade.
This is a bridge to bring Cuban knowledge and biotechnology products to Vietnam and the region, and at the same time bring Vietnamese scientific intelligence to accompany the development of the Cuban people.
On the Cuban side, Mr. Leandro Luis Licea Vagas, President of Labiofam Group, said that this network will open up great opportunities for cooperation in research, development and trade of agricultural biotechnology, medicine and natural foods - for the health of the people of the two countries and a sustainable green future.
General Director of the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB) of the BioCubaFarma Group, Ms. Marta Ayala Ávila, also expressed her belief that the network will develop successfully and be expanded, contributing to providing high-quality medical and pharmaceutical products for people's health.
According to Associate Professor, Dr. Le Huu Doanh, Director of the Central Dermatology Hospital - a member of the network, this is a great opportunity for biotechnology in general and the Central Dermatology Hospital in particular in receiving science and technology, medical technology, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics from Cuba that can be transferred, applied and used for the Vietnamese people, especially in the dermatology industry.
From the perspective of scientific research, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huy Hoang, Deputy Director of the Institute of Biology, said that with the combination of scientists from the Institute of Biology with biotechnology networks in Cuba such as LaBiofam Group, Center for Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, we can exchange science, cooperate in research to find and develop drugs faster, or we can receive technologies that Cuba has experience with. We will learn faster and can develop those products in Vietnam, serving the Vietnamese people.
