According to Insider Gaming , during a hearing between Microsoft and the FTC (US Federal Trade Commission), the software company said it hopes the PlayStation 6 console will launch in 2028.
As part of the legal battle over the deal with Activision, Microsoft said its proposed 10-year deal would last much longer than the release of Sony's next-generation console in 2028.
Microsoft says it hopes Sony's PS6 will launch in 2028
"In all cases, the 10-year term would be well beyond the expected launch of the next generation of consoles (in 2028)," a Microsoft statement said. "As such, Call of Duty will continue to be released on future PlayStation systems if they are released during the 10-year agreement. The agreement will also ensure that Call of Duty console games will be available on PlayStation, similar to Xbox."
While it's not confirmed, the confidence in Microsoft's statement about the PlayStation 6 could suggest that the next-gen Xbox will likely be released around the same time.
According to Insider Gaming's own report last March, with much of the information compiled from verified and authenticated sources, the site also believes that the PlayStation 6 will launch in 2028.
Of course, plans can still change, and the console could also be delayed by a year or two. But everything is pointing to a new generation of consoles arriving by the end of the decade.
