* Russian Ambassador: Poland's stance on Ukraine after elections will not change: On October 16, Russian Ambassador to Poland Sergey Andreyev announced that Warsaw's stance on the Ukraine issue will not change after the Polish parliamentary elections a day earlier.

According to preliminary results as of 3:45 p.m. (local time) on October 16, with 63.81% of votes counted, the ruling Law and Justice Party (PiS) is leading with 37.52% of votes and is likely to win, while the opposition Civic Alliance is in second place with 31.6% of votes.

However, poll results show that PiS may only win 200/460 seats. On the contrary, the Civic Alliance may receive up to 246 seats. Thus, this opposition force is facing a great opportunity to form a government . The Polish National Election Commission is expected to announce the final official results on October 17.

* Ukraine warns of the “slow death” of the OSCE : On October 16, speaking at a press conference attended by Chairman of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Bujar Osmani, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that everything Russia does is harming this organization.

He warned that the OSCE could face a “slow death” if Russia remained a member, calling on the organisation to move towards “a new life without Russia”.

Kiev has repeatedly called for Moscow to be expelled from international organizations over the conflict in Ukraine, including the G20, the UN Security Council and all major sports organizations.

Russia has also repeatedly accused the West of seeking to undermine and “hijack” the OSCE, claiming that the organization has turned its back on its founding principles.

The OSCE was founded in August 1975 to ease Cold War tensions and help its members coordinate on issues such as human rights and arms control. It regularly sends observers to conflicts and elections around the world. It also runs programs to combat human trafficking and ensure media freedom.

Since the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine, the OSCE has struggled as Russia has blocked key decisions that require consensus to be implemented.

* Former US official : Kiev is not an ally Washington: Last weekend, in an article posted on social network X, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Strategy and US Forces Development (2017-2018) Elbridge Colby affirmed: "Ukraine has never been an ally, and we have never committed to defending this country." He noted that "trust in the alliance with the US was gone" when the conflict broke out in Ukraine in February 2022.

This comment was made by Mr. Colby, who is currently the head of the Marathon Initiative (USA), in response to a comment by another X network user. Previously, this person said that the US's unsuccessful withdrawal from Afghanistan encouraged Russia to take military action less than 6 months later.

Colby agreed that the “failure to withdraw from Afghanistan” had damaged America’s credibility less than it was supposed to. According to the former official, the United States stood by its true allies in Europe and Asia, while Afghanistan was somewhat unnecessary: “Our relationships with other long-standing allies in Afghanistan and the threat from China or Russia were greater than the Taliban,” which is why “NATO and our Northeast Asian alliances did not collapse. Our adversaries did not attack.”
