A Vietnam Airlines flight had to make an emergency landing to rescue a passenger.

At 2:00 p.m. on September 17, about an hour after flight VN30 took off, a 57-year-old male passenger of Vietnamese nationality showed signs of unstable health. The flight crew immediately issued a request for emergency medical assistance. Three doctors on board volunteered to provide first aid, but the passenger's condition showed no signs of improvement.

Faced with that situation, the flight captain decided to divert to an emergency landing at Istanbul airport, and notified the ground department to deploy a medical support plan.

After the plane landed safely, passengers were immediately transferred to local medical facilities for emergency care and treatment.

The crew quickly coordinated with the authorities and ground service partners at the airport to complete the necessary procedures in Türkiye, refueling flight VN30 to continue its journey to Ho Chi Minh City at 5:30 p.m. (local time) the same day. The flight landed 3 hours and 20 minutes later than scheduled.

Previously, on May 5, flight VN35 from Hanoi to Frankfurt (Germany) also made an emergency landing at Erzurum airport (Turkey) for the same reason.

Most recently, on Vietnam Airlines flight VN62 on September 11 departing from Moscow (Russia) to Hanoi, a 55-year-old male passenger of Russian nationality had health problems about two hours after takeoff. Doctors from the high-ranking working delegation of the Russian Ministry of Health who were on the flight to work in Vietnam quickly approached and provided timely medical intervention to the passenger.

Vietnam Airlines advises passengers to proactively monitor and self-assess their health status before each trip. In case of noticing any unusual signs, passengers should consult a doctor promptly and consider taking the flight to ensure health safety.
