Da Nang requests the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to appraise 3 heritage conservation projects

These are the projects: Restoration, restoration and embellishment of Dien Hai Citadel relic phase 2; Creation of landscape space, trees, technical infrastructure around Tho Son mountain (belonging to the special national scenic spot Ngu Hanh Son); Planning for preservation, restoration and rehabilitation of the World Cultural Heritage of Hoi An ancient town in the new phase.

According to the report, for phase 2 of the Dien Hai Citadel Relics Restoration and Renovation Project, based on the agreement of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the City People's Committee has approved the project investment policy with a total investment of more than 84 billion VND.

The city has organized archaeological excavations, revealing many architectural foundations of the Dien Hai Citadel defense works. The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has completed the design documents for the construction drawings to preserve, renovate and restore the relic and has submitted a report to the Department of Cultural Heritage (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) for appraisal.

Regarding the project to create landscape space, trees, and technical infrastructure around Tho Son mountain, the working group reported on the implementation of two main items: Bao Thien pagoda and trees, statue garden, meditation garden, parking lot, and internal road sidewalks. Specifically, Bao Thien pagoda is expected to be located at the corner of Le Van Hien - Pham Huu Nhat street, between Tho Son and Thuy Son mountains; becoming a highlight at the northern gateway to the Ngu Hanh Son scenic complex. From the city center, going south along Le Van Hien street, the project will not obscure the view of the mountains.

Regarding the categories of trees, statue gardens, meditation gardens, parking lots, and internal road sidewalks, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has agreed on a number of contents, including ensuring that the statue garden is truly a garden of famous people's statues; not constructing works within the 20m green buffer zone around the protected area I of Ngu Hanh Son scenic spot; using typical native tree species with high recognition...

Regarding the Project on planning the preservation, restoration and rehabilitation of the World Cultural Heritage of Hoi An ancient town in the new phase, the Prime Minister issued Official Dispatch No. 6016/VPCP-KGVX dated June 30, 2025 approving the Project "Preserving and promoting the value of the World Cultural Heritage of Hoi An ancient town until 2030, with a vision to 2035".

At the working session, the delegation of the People's Committee of Da Nang City proposed that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism promptly appraise the documents and submissions, creating a basis for Da Nang City to deploy investment projects as soon as possible, contributing to the development of tourism in particular and the city's socio-economic development in general.

A representative of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that the ministry always supports and accompanies and will soon resolve procedures for localities to implement the project. At the same time, it will guide the management of relics and organize professional training for localities in the context of implementing the 2-level local government model.
