The 6:30 am news from the Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting reports developments in the next 24-48 hours:

Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, and Bac Ninh areas will have heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms with average rainfall from 60-120mm, locally over 250mm.

The mountainous and midland areas of the North have heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 40-100mm, locally very heavy rain over 200mm.

The Northern Delta and Thanh Hoa regions have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 30-60mm, locally very heavy rain over 150mm.

Nghe An - Ha Tinh area has showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall of 20-40 mm, locally over 70 mm. Warning of risk of heavy rain (>150 mm/3 hours)

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting also noted that thunderstorms may cause tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind. Warning level of natural disaster risk due to heavy rain: Level 1. Potential impact: Heavy rain can cause flooding in low-lying areas, urban areas, industrial zones, flash floods on rivers, small streams, and landslides on steep slopes.

It is forecasted that from October 8, heavy rain in the North and Thanh Hoa will decrease.
