In memory of national hero and world cultural celebrity Nguyen Trai

On October 7 (ie August 16 of the lunar calendar), at Nguyen Trai Temple in Con Son-Kiep Bac relic, Tran Hung Dao ward, the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Phong city held a ceremony to commemorate the 583rd death anniversary of national hero and world cultural celebrity Nguyen Trai.

In the sacred atmosphere at the relic site, delegates, people and tourists from all over reviewed the life and career of Nguyen Trai.

In his memorial speech, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Nguyen Minh Hung stated that Nguyen Trai, alias Uc Trai, was born in the year of Canh Than (1380) in Thang Long Citadel; his father was Nguyen Phi Khanh, originally from Chi Ngai village (now Tran Hung Dao ward, Hai Phong city) and later moved to Ngoc Oi village (now Thuong Tin commune, Hanoi city); his mother was Tran Thi Thai, daughter of the Minister of Justice Tran Nguyen Dan.

Nguyen Trai spent his childhood with his maternal grandfather in Thang Long and Con Son. After his grandfather passed away, he returned to live with his father in Nhi Khe village. Educated by his maternal grandfather and father, Nguyen Trai soon became famous for his talent, virtue, and great ambition.

In 1400, at the age of 20, he passed the Thai Hoc Sinh exam, and the following year he received the position of Royal Censorate Chief under the Ho Dynasty. From 1407, the country was under the domination of the Ming invaders. Nguyen Trai participated in Lam Son Tu Nghia, presented Binh Ngo Sach, and contributed to Le Loi in the resistance war against the Ming army.

After the victorious resistance, Nguyen Trai wrote the Proclamation of Victory over the Wu - the immortal Declaration of Independence, a heroic work of literature summarizing the great resistance war against the Ming invaders of the nation.

The country was at peace , Nguyen Trai continued his political, cultural and social activities under the Le dynasty and made great contributions to creating a socio-economic foundation, harmony between the country and the people - resources to build a strong Dai Viet country.

Nguyen Trai has gone down in history and become a great national hero and an outstanding cultural celebrity. On the occasion of the 600th anniversary of Nguyen Trai's birth (1380-1980), he was honored by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as a World Cultural Celebrity.

In the minds of the people of the whole country, talking about Con Son means remembering Nguyen Trai, the shining Sao Khue in the history of the Vietnamese nation. The land of Con Son was attached to Nguyen Trai during his childhood years and was also the place where he hid, "contemplating the present, thinking about the future, considering all the reasons for rise and fall" to later write Binh Ngo Sach, outlining the way to fight the enemy and save the country.

During the reign of King Le Thai Tong, Nguyen Trai was assigned by the king to oversee the Northeast. Con Son was also the place where he built his house, ground ink, and wrote many valuable works of history, literature, philosophy, military, and diplomacy, becoming legacies for posterity, typically "Con Son Ca". He contributed to the restoration and expansion of Con Son Pagoda, making it a great scenic spot.

Nguyen Trai Temple - Uc Trai Linh Tu has become a sacred space for generations of people to deeply engrave the morality of "drinking water, remember its source" to honor and revere Uc Trai. Here, every spring and autumn, hundreds of thousands of tourists come to visit and worship to respectfully pay tribute to the outstanding ancestors.

Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong City People's Committee Nguyen Minh Hung affirmed that the ideology and eternal values of the Truc Lam Buddhist ancestral place at Con Son Pagoda and the outstanding cultural celebrity Nguyen Trai have made an important contribution to the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac relic and scenic complex being listed as a world heritage site.

Remembering the national hero Nguyen Trai, the people of the whole country see even more the great responsibility in preserving and promoting the unique and globally outstanding cultural heritage values of the Con Son - Kiep Bac relic site so that the heritage values continue to shine, becoming an endogenous resource to support generations of Vietnamese people to firmly step forward in the work of protecting, building, developing the country and rising up in the new era.

After the ceremony, Hai Phong city leaders, people and tourists offered incense to commemorate the national hero and world cultural celebrity Nguyen Trai. Before that, the procession from Con Son Pagoda to Nguyen Trai Temple was held with the participation of many people and tourists from all over the world./.
