Nam Dinh FC determined to create a surprise against Gamba Osaka

At the press conference before the match of the third round of the AFC Champions League Two 2025/26 group stage, coach Vu Hong Viet affirmed that Nam Dinh club will try their best to create a surprise in the difficult away match at Gamba Osaka (Japan).

“This is an important match because both we and our opponents are competing for the top spot in the table, having won two games before. I am very impressed with Gamba Osaka’s midfield - they have two very good central midfielders. In addition, their domestic striker wearing the number 7 jersey is also very dangerous. Those are the names that we need to pay special attention to in this match,” coach Vu Hong Viet shared at the press conference on October 21.

Captain Lucas Alves also highly appreciated the opponent from J-League: "Teams from Japan are always very strong, and Gamba Osaka is no exception. However, we have a little experience when facing Hiroshima last season. It will not be easy, but the whole Nam Dinh team will play their best in tomorrow's match."

Previously, Nam Dinh club had an impressive start in this year's AFC Champions League Two season when they won both first matches: defeating Ratchaburi (Thailand) with a score of 3-1 at home, and beating Eastern FC (Hong Kong, China) 1-0 away.

With 6 absolute points, the team from Thanh Nam is currently sharing the top two positions in Group F with Gamba Osaka, however, the Japanese representative is temporarily ranked higher thanks to a better goal difference.

The match between Gamba Osaka and Nam Dinh FC will take place at 5:00 p.m. on October 22 (Vietnam time) at Gamba's home ground. This is considered the focal match of Group F and could be decisive in the race for the top spot, thereby gaining a big advantage to advance to the knockout round.
