Nam Po needs to re-evaluate the effectiveness of centralized domestic water supply projects in the area.

Dien Bine TV - On the morning of April 16, Supervisory Team No. 1 of the Provincial People's Council, headed by Comrade Giang Thi Hoa, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, had a thematic supervision session on "Implementation of policies and laws on investment, management, and supply of domestic water in Dien Bien province, period 2021 - 2024 in Nam Po district.

Comrade Giang Thi Hoa, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council, spoke at the working session with the People's Committee of Nam Po district.

In the period of 2021 - 2024, Nam Po district invested in building, upgrading and repairing 34 works with a total cost of over 103 billion VND from the central budget and local budget. The whole district currently has 108 centralized domestic water supply works; of which more than 92 works are operating effectively, meeting the people's need for clean water in their daily lives.

However, the use and protection of centralized water supply works have not been regularly managed and maintained; many works are degraded, damaged, and operate ineffectively; the protection of the works is difficult; some works have lost their upstream water pipes or are damaged; the managers mainly work part-time or have no expertise.

Speaking at the working session, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council Giang Thi Hoa suggested that Nam Po district focus on reviewing and re-evaluating the effectiveness of centralized domestic water supply works in the area; directing communes to develop solutions to improve the operational efficiency of water supply works management and operation teams; stepping up propaganda and mobilizing people to raise awareness and responsibility in exploiting and using domestic water supply works. For long-term investment works that have been damaged or are no longer in operation, if eligible, consider and liquidate them according to regulations.
