Reuters news agency reported that a statement from the Russian government said that the decision to impose temporary restrictions on exports to the US was signed “on the president's instructions in response to restrictions and bans imposed by Washington”, but there would be exceptions.

According to the US nuclear agency, Russia holds about 44% of the world 's uranium enrichment capacity and about 35% of Washington's nuclear fuel imports previously came from Moscow.
